Welcome!

Greetings!

My name is Kathryn Aponte. I live in Kingsland, located in the Texas Hill Country. The area is rich in history, even though settlers' written history only goes back to the early 1800s. There are so many abandoned barns and old farmhouses that are just waiting to be photographed.  Sometimes, when Lake Buchanan is low, the old town of Bluffton can be seen just as it was left in 1938 when the dam was completed. I've never had the chance to photograph Old Bluffton, but it is on my bucket list.

Unlike most photographers, I did not pick up my first camera at age 8 or 10. I picked up my first camera when digital was in its infancy. What fascinated me about digital is that the bad photographs can be deleted. The question is, who are we to say that a photograph is bad or good or appears to be unprofessional? Art is the expression of the creator, not the critique of a viewer. If it creates a reaction, whether bad or good, it is successful. If a blurry photograph raises the question "I wonder where that is? Looks like they may have been moving. I may want to go there sometime." It is a success. It doesn't have to be purchased, only viewed. I don't want to be rich. I only want to create something that matters, even if it  doesn't matter during my lifetime. I want my work to be important to someone. Even if only to one person.

Creativity applies to more than just photography. Creativity is an expression of oneself. My creativity includes making jewelry, creating wreaths and wall hangers, and setting up websites. There are many other things to do as well. Print and personalized items for promotion or advertising. Recently, I added embroidery to my wheelhouse.

I included some of the best examples of the photographs from the last few years. Most have been taken in other parts of the country during summer vacations. There are others that were taken closer to home, or even in my yard, that I cherish, therefore I kept the photographs and included them here. There is also a  lighthouse on Hatteras Island that is absolutely my favorite subject. It reminds me that no matter how dark and stormy things seem to be, there is always something bright to look forward to.

Contact me! I'm always available to discuss designs and promotional tools. I look forward to hearing from you.
